Hosting an event can be a lot of fun. It is a great way to spend time with family members and friends. However, mosquitoes can ruin an event. The good news is that there are things that you can do in order to keep the mosquitoes away.
Repel With Smell
There are scents that you can use to keep the mosquitoes away. You can use lemon slices, water, Rosemary oil and citronella oil. Not only do these things work, but they are also inexpensive. Put all of these ingredients together in a jar and put them outside of your home or building. Additionally, these ingredients are non-toxic, so they will not harm you or your guests.
You will need to mow the lawn before your event. Long grass provides a hiding spot for mosquitoes. However, you do not want to cut the grass too short. It is best for you to cut the grass a few days before the event. This will prevent your guests from tracking blades inside of the home or building. Additionally, you may want to put the grass clippings inside of a bag.
Put Fans Outside
Mosquitoes like still air. That is why one of the things that you can do in order to repel them is to put fans outside. The air circulation will also help your guests stay cool while they are outside.
Get rid of Standing Water
Mosquitoes need standing water in order to breed. It will be hard for you to get rid of mosquitoes if you have standing water around your home or building. Make sure that you empty out the rain gutters and kiddie pool a week before the event.
Get Debris out of Your Yard
Make sure that weeds, twigs and branches are removed from the yard. Mosquitoes can hide behind debris. They can also breed in this area.
Hire a Professional
While do-it-yourself mosquito control can be effective, it is best for you to hire a professional to do so. If you get a special event mosquito treatment, then you will be able to rest assured that you and your guests can enjoy the event without worrying about mosquitoes.
It is important for you to have the yard treated at least three days before the event. Keep in mind that the treatments a professional uses are more effective than home treatments. They are also safer.
